The five pieces of the Teile series are made of scrap stone from a German gravestone manufacturer, which receives large stone blocks from all over the world and carves grave stones from them. The offcuts of this process are reused by us to build unique stone objects which serve as side tables or sculptural objects. While the exterior of the offcuts remains intact, negative space is cut into the interior with core drills that pull the material out in a cylindrical shape. Three different drill diameters were used to achieve the effects. Each unique pattern is a response to the qualities of the individual stones. While Teile 01-04 are more similar in their form, Teil 05 has an additional feature, as the storage space of Teil 05 can be divided as required. The ‚drawers‘ are made from pieces that are getting extracted during the drilling process.
